Impress your friends! Make your own snowflake!

Bonnie's snowflake
Do you remember last year’s holiday ode to procrastination?

Sadly, the Snow Gallery has closed. But I found something almost as much fun: make your own snowflake!

It took me a while to get the hang of the scissors, but it’s a lot of fun once you do. You can save your snowflake, download it, or just link to it.

Bonnie's snowflake

Ignore the above snowflake maker! Judy has pointed out a MUCH BETTER snowflake maker, because each snowflake you make increases Popular Front‘s donation to the Salvation Army, one of my favorite charities.

This way you can procrastinate for a good cause! It sure doesn’t get any better than that.

And now, back to this regularly scheduled post!

And no matter how much you cut up your flake, IT STILL WORKS—unlike my always-botched childhood snowflakes. I never could get any of them to look halfway decent. If only my second-grade teacher could see me now!

What do your snowflakes look like?

  1. Bonnie, if you go to Snowdays, not only do you get to play with scissors and make snowflakes, but every snowflake you make helps support the Salvation Army. And, you’re right… it’s so much better making pretty snowflakes for a change!!!

  2. Ha! Your previewer has enlisted mercenaries. Your duplicate posting banner has joined the fray with this:

Duplicate comment detected; it looks as though you’ve already said that!

Oh yeah, great. It’s okay for Mr. PREVIEWER to repeat everything back to me, but if *I* try it…

We’ll just see what the ACLU has to say about this, Missy.

Previewer: *psst* it’s Bonnie, not Missy.

    Me: Shut up.

    *reads Previewer*

How does it make me feel?

    PERVERT!

  3. Those scissors… All I can say is, thank goodness for the “undo” button. I won’t say how many times I ended up with a very tiny scrap of paper.

This is very cool. Now I must decide whether I should take a shower or play the game again…

    *sniffff* Ok, shower it is.

    OMG! The previewer… WONDERFUL!!

  4. Yes, Bernita, they are. The pain of it all—the PAIN.

Hey, thank you, Judy! The Salvation Army is a great cause. I very much appreciate your pointing it out to me.

    Ha, MG! Gotcha.

Ms. Karen, I’ve been hacking that snowflake to bits, and haven’t ended up with a tiny piece of paper… yet. I guess you and I were both stuck at the bottom of Miss Hafner’s snowflake class, hunh?

  5. Oooo a time sink for a good cause.

Evil, evil, Bonnie luring me into nearly forgetting to give the sick kitty his meds.

But the pretty (awful) snowflake I made….LOL.. Will try again.

  6. Have made an even more beautiful snowflake for the good cause. And it still looks better than the previewer’s.

Previewer: Is this what you want to say?

Me: YES YES YES! I want to say this, you over-pixeled nosy Nancy.

Previewer: (And [sniff] I am NOT a pervert, Ms. Tarquini. So there.)

Me: Don’t whine. I can take anything, but I can’t take it when a previewer whines.

  7. Mi copo de nieve es feo. Yo soy triste.*

*I am practicing my Spanish so I can understand when my students are cursing at me πŸ™‚

    Temprano Feliz Navidad!

  8. This is so cool! In a weird co-inkidink I’m teaching Brownies (the little girl-type) to make snowflakes today …Have Glitter, Will Travel. heh.

    Thanks Bonnie (and Judy!)

P.S. I foresee a sad ending for the Tarquini and Previewer duo …very Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis.

  9. Mine looked a little nasty, kinda like a bunch of women with their legs spread. Sorry I know this is a family blog, but you asked. I’m going to try again!

  10. Oh! I see! If you hold your mouse over the snowflakes, they appear. Duh. It takes me a while. I gotta go send a link to your blog to everyone I know who doesn’t already come here.

  11. Whoa! I made a nice looking snowflake and I’m operating on 2nd grader’s level of artistic talent, arrested from all the white paste I ate back then.

  12. The snowflakes ROCK!!! That was so much fun – I did a couple for the Salvo site. Thanks for the link.

Mindy needs to step away from the Previewer. She’s getting a wee bit pixilated herself. Next she’ll be talking to an exceptionally tall imaginary rabbit. or something equally disturbing.

  13. Okay chica…I am off to make a snowflake, or two, or three, or four. Darn you, another Friday afternoon of procrastination! I love it. πŸ˜‰

    Ciao bella…

  14. All my 5 year old daughter has wanted to do these last few days is cut out snowflakes. I will have to show her this for sure : ) !!

  15. Whoa! How come nobody is linking to their snowflakes?

Suzanne, I think little old lady doilies make cool snowflakes.

James, it’s good to hear from you again. I hope the achilles tendon is doing all right. Hubby just tore his meniscus, so we’re talking surgery for HIM.

Kristen, not you, too! Everybody’s got me curious about awful snowflakes. Is the one I made above an awful snowflake? Heck, it’s better than anything I ever made in Snowflake 101.

MG, my previewer just asked for time off to visit a therapist. I know exactly where to send the bill.

    Hi, Bonnie!

Okay, Mel, how can we know if it’s ugly unless you show us? Come on, flash us some snowflake!

Yay, Dennie! It’s good to know I can still entertain kids. Birchsprite has been entertaining my boys with her Monkey score.

Dink, the previewer seems to have a more sensitive side than I ever imagined.

Squirrel, it’s a SNOWFLAKE! Not a rorshach test!

Thanks, Lesia. I was hoping people would link to their work, but it appears we have some very shy snowflakes.

Good for you, Corn Dog. I didn’t eat paste, but I do admit to liking the way it smelled.

    You are most welcome, Teri.

Dear Ordinary Mom, thank you for dropping in to comment. I’m glad you found something you could use!

  16. Bonnie,

I’d LOVE to link to my snowflake but haven’t a clue how to do that —got one? A clue I mean.

  17. I FIGURED IT OUT –I am now fully clued (and proud of it) for anyone else as in the dark as the dinkster was,

The way you link to your snowflake is SEND it to yourself when they provide the window for addresses put your own in and the site sends you a link to your snowflake drifting through the sky –very nifty! You can then just paste that link into your blog.

    YAY!

    P.S. there …there Previewer
